  3. Open the note and choose Results to read the summary, action items and decisions.

The full guide is in the app under Settings > Help > How to use Enabled Notes.

Common questions

AI results are missing

On-device results need Apple Intelligence. Turn it on in Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri. If your device cannot run it, choose a cloud provider in Settings > Notes > AI provider. Recording and transcripts work either way. If a result failed, open the note and tap More > Retry.

Results on long notes take a while, or have mistakes

Very long notes are split into parts for the on-device model, which takes longer and can make mistakes. A notice on the note says so. A cloud provider handles long notes better.

Recording asks me to download a language

Some transcription languages download the first time you use them. Choose your language in Settings > Transcription language, or leave it on Automatic. To free space, tap Remove on a downloaded language.

A call stopped my recording

A call or another app can stop a recording. The text so far is kept, and you can choose to continue that note or start a new one.

How do I use Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini?

In Settings > Notes > AI provider, pick Anthropic Claude, OpenAI or Google Gemini. Allow sending, paste your API key and tap Test connection. Get a key here:

Can I use my Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini subscription?

No. A subscription does not include an API key. Providers bill API use separately, for each use.

What does cloud AI cost?

Your provider bills you directly. With a low-cost model, results cost about a penny a note. Larger models can cost 10 to 50 cents or more a note.

Is there a subscription for Enabled Notes?

No. On-device AI is free, and with cloud AI you pay only your provider.

Where are my notes? Do they sync?

Notes are stored only on your device and do not sync between devices. They are included in your device backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup). To move them to a new device, restore it from a backup. Deleting the app deletes its notes.

Can I get my audio back?

No. Audio is never saved, only the transcript.

How do I share or copy a note?

In a note, Copy puts one result or the transcript on the clipboard, and Share sends the note as formatted text.

Accessibility

Enabled Notes works with VoiceOver, Voice Control, larger text sizes, dark mode, increased contrast and reduced motion. In Settings > Appearance you can choose a reading font (OpenDyslexic or Verdana) or turn on Motor Mode for larger buttons. If something is hard to use with an assistive feature, please tell us; we treat that as a bug.

Privacy

Audio is never saved, and transcribing always happens on your device. AI results stay on your device unless you choose a cloud provider. Read the full Privacy Policy.
